Homework Policy:
Homework is an important part of your student’s learning experience. Our goal for homework is to give students the chance to continue their learning beyond the school day, learn responsibility, and build time management skills. I will most likely change the homework system during the year as needed, but I will always keep you posted. I believe in the importance of family time and extra-curricular activities and so homework should never be too time consuming. This is what you can expect for homework for the beginning of the year: *Students will be expected to read every night. *Students will receive a homework packet on Friday afternoons. *They will be due the following Friday. *Homework must be high quality work and show effort. *Students who have completed all of the weekly homework including daily reading will participate in Friday fun. Homework Guidelines: * Students should be reading as much as possible. The purpose of reading at home should be to develop a love of reading. I expect all of my students to reach their Accelerated Reader (AR) Goal. We set these goals each trimester and you can monitor them using Renaissance Home Connect: **https://hosted252.renlearn.com/245193/HomeConnect/** Students should read both at home and at school to meet this goal. * If students do not bring their homework back when it is due, the expectation is that they finish it at home the next night and bring it back the following school day. * In order to teach students the importance of academic responsibility there will be consequences for students who do not complete all of the weekly homework with a high amount of quality and effort. Students will not be allowed to take part in Friday Fun for that week. |
